Great Non-Alcoholic Holiday Drinks

  |     |   Recipes

This holiday, residents at The Sanctuary at 311 can help holiday guests stay refreshed throughout the evening by offering alcohol-free drinks and 'mocktails' in addition to the usual alcohol-infused favorites. Here are three great ideas for non-alcoholic holiday drinks!

Great Non-Alcoholic Holiday Drinks

Cranberry Spice Mocktail

Taken from Town and Country magazine, Cranberry Spice Mocktail is a holiday favorite, combining the warmth of apple cider, the sweetness of cranberry juice, and a splash of Peychaud's Bitters to invite the nuanced aroma of anise with a background of mint.

Recipe:
1.5 oz sparkling water
2 oz cranberry juice
4 dashes Peychaud's Bitters
2.5 oz apple cider
10 cranberries (plus additional for garnish)
Orange wedge

Directions:
Muddle cranberries and orange wedge in cranberry juice, and then pour in the rest of the ingredients and stir with a spoon. Garnish with cranberries and orange peel and serve on ice.

Martha Stewart Cherry Bombs

This grown-up version of a Shirley Temple is full of tart flavor, minus the alcohol content. Martha Stewart is renowned for her holiday entertaining skills, and these Cherry Bomb mocktails are easy to make. Served in a highball glass for a truly cocktail feel.

Recipe:

1 cup grenadine

1 liter clear citrus soda, or seltzer

18 maraschino cherries

Directions:

Place 2 cups water in a medium saucepan, and bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Add grenadine; stir to combine. Pour mixture into two ice-cube trays. Freeze until solid, 2 hours or overnight.

Fill six glasses with grenadine ice cubes. Top with soda. Garnish with cherries, and serve.

Peppermint Eggnog

Here's a refreshing twist on an old favorite that combines eggnog with chocolate and peppermint. Simply take your favorite non-alcoholic Eggnog beverage, then add pure peppermint extract to taste. Meanwhile, add candy canes in a food processor and crush until fine and melt a good quality white chocolate over a pan of simmering water. Mix together the chocolate and crushed candy canes and dip each serving glass in this mixture before pouring in your Peppermint Eggnog.
